After many years of working in Adobe Photoshop (since version 2.0, but who’s counting?), it seems to me that Photoshop 2019 has changed one of its most basic and heavily relied upon functions. Adobe in their ultimate wisdom appear to have changed the way one is able to resize images in proportion.
Unlike other solid Adobe applications such as Indesign and Illustrator which still work with the shift + toggle method, Photoshop which used to work like this is now just a toggle. This means I just need to toggle and it will resize in proportion anyway. It turns out that if I do the shift + toggle method which I would naturally do after experiencing all the older versions of Photoshop, (or any other Adobe application for that matter), it would actually do the opposite – it would resize totally out of proportion. Very frustrating!
I am not entirely sure why Adobe has chosen to do this other than to make it easier for new users to get to grips with the application quicker but it means that the more experienced folk like you and me have to adapt to our way of working and remember that Photoshop is the exception when using the Creative Suite. I was under the impression years ago when they introduced the Creative Suite that they were going to make the whole user experience seamless when working between their applications – this appears to be against this ideology unless their other applications are going to follow suit. However, if they are, why not announce a change in this feature to their experienced/existing users (instead of wasting their valuable time) and change it universally across all the applications when releasing the 2019 Creative Suite?
Come on Adobe you can do better.
